The rules
Editorial standards
Our words, their credit
Every story on MusicSuey is written here, in our own words. We never republish an outlet's article text, we keep quotations short, and we name and link every outlet that reported a story, with equal credit in alphabetical order. We do not claim to know who reported a story first, because our scraping cannot honestly know that, so we credit everyone equally instead.
News is corroborated or it is labeled
A story only reads as news here when more than one independent voice has reported it or someone involved has said it themselves. Anything thinner carries a visible label saying exactly how thin it is. The full ladder is on how we verify.
Deaths are handled differently
A death is never marked trending and never dressed in color, whatever the coverage volume. These stories are held to a higher sourcing bar before they publish at all.
What we cover
Music news: releases, tours, festivals, awards, lineup changes, and the business and legal stories around them. We do not cover relationships, pregnancies, fashion, or celebrity stories that happen to involve musicians.
