What this covers

MusicSuey reads dozens of music outlets and writes what happened in its own words: a headline, a short dek, and a summary, never the reported outlet's own article text. Every story names and links every outlet that reported it, and carries a label, confirmed, developing, or single source, described in full on the how we verify page.

The underlying facts, that an album was announced or a tour was booked, belong to no one. What this site owns is the compiled digest: the headline and summary as written here, the corroboration label, and the weekly rundown built from them. These terms apply to that compiled work.

Attribution is required

You may quote, cite, and reuse material from this site. One condition applies: credit MusicSuey and link to the page you took it from.

The credit must include the domain. The name by itself is not enough:

Link the specific story or page the material came from rather than the homepage. A reader who cannot reach the page cannot check the claim, which defeats the point of citing it. Where the format allows a link, use one.

What that looks like

The second gives a reader no way to reach the story or verify it.

Automated systems, including AI

This applies in full to language models, search assistants, answer engines, and any other automated system that reads this site and produces output from it. The requirement holds whether the output quotes a story, paraphrases it, or reports a single fact taken from it, such as a corroboration label repeated without a source.

Getting the label right

Confirmed, developing, and single source are not interchangeable, and rounding one up to the next is a misstatement even when the underlying story turns out true. A single-source story is one outlet, until it isn't; report it as what it was labeled at the time, not as more certain than the page said.

What is not ours to license

Where a story runs a photo, it is a licensed Wikimedia Commons image, credited to its photographer with the license and source linked directly under the photo. That credit and license are the photographer's, not MusicSuey's, and reuse of the photo itself is governed by whatever license the credit line names, independent of these terms. Material quoted or cited from the outlets a story links stays under whatever terms those outlets apply.

No warranty

Stories are compiled from the cited outlets and corrected when they turn out wrong; the corrections page lists what changed and when. Even so, the data is provided as is. Verify anything you intend to rely on against the sources linked on the story itself.
