A tribute show for Harm's Way guitarist Bo Lueders changed venues at short notice

The Chicago tribute show for Bo Lueders had to change venues at the last minute, Stereogum reported on August 26. Lueders, who played guitar in Harm's Way and was a well-liked figure across hardcore, died earlier this year at 38, and the show his hometown had planned for later that week was moved with only days to go.

Stereogum ties the switch to an investigation involving a Chicago cemetery. Neither the site nor what is being looked into is spelled out in the report, so the nature of the inquiry is not established here, and nothing in the piece names the room the show has moved to.

MusicSuey covered a Chicago cemetery inquiry earlier in the month, when Bohemian National Cemetery kept its indie concert series running through allegations that it mishandled human remains. Empty Bottle Presents has booked the Beyond The Gate series at that cemetery since 2013, with past bills including Grouper, Cindy Lee, Kim Gordon and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Whether the Lueders show was booked at the same site is not stated in the report.

Hardcore has spent months marking his death. Stereogum counts a long line of bands that have paid tribute, and last week God's Hate put out an all-star cover of the Harm's Way song "Warriors Will Reign." Colin Young assembled that recording; he and Lueders hosted the HardLore podcast together, which is where much of the scene knew Lueders from outside his own band.

Harm's Way have already gone back onstage without him, a night MusicSuey covered when the band played its first show since Lueders died.
