The Welsh men's choir Only Men Aloud honored Bonnie Tyler with a rendition of her signature pop hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" at the singer's funeral in Swansea, Wales on Monday, August 17, Rolling Stone reported. The choir performed the 1983 song near the end of the service with light string accompaniment, in a performance captured on an Associated Press video of the funeral.

Tyler had a long relationship with Only Men Aloud, who broke through after winning the BBC competition Last Choir Standing in 2008. The group recorded "Total Eclipse of the Heart" with Tyler on its 2009 album, Band of Brothers, and the two also performed the song together live on several occasions over the years.

Earlier in the service, the choir also performed Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," a song Tyler had recorded herself for her 1995 album, Free Spirit. Rolling Stone noted that the choir's voices carried much of the dramatic weight the arrangement demands, even with only modest string backing.

Tyler died in early July at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, following more than a month of hospitalization after emergency intestinal surgery in late May. Doctors placed her in a medically induced coma to aid her recovery.

She emerged from the coma in mid-June, though a family statement described her at the time as still "very unwell." She died a few weeks later. An official cause of death has not been released.
