New prison photos of hip-hop figure Eugene "Big U" Henley began circulating online this week, showing him smiling behind bars, AllHipHop reported on August 13. The images had been circulating since August 11, giving supporters their latest look at Henley while he remains in federal custody.
His friend OG Big L offered an encouraging update on Henley's condition around the same time, saying Henley remains optimistic and "ready 4 war" against the case, and is "on his Deen," using the Arabic word for religious way of life, framing Henley's outlook in explicitly Islamic terms of faith and patience.
The photos arrived shortly after a superseding federal indictment added seven felony charges against Henley, including allegations that he solicited fellow inmates to murder or seriously injure a witness expected to testify against him.
Henley was originally charged in 2025 in a racketeering case alleging extortion, fraud and violence connected to what prosecutors have labeled the "Big U Enterprise," and has pleaded not guilty to the underlying charges. The new witness-tampering allegations sit on top of that existing case rather than replacing it.
AllHipHop notes that Henley and six co-defendants are currently scheduled to face trial in February 2027, and cautions that a smiling photo says little about the outcome of a federal prosecution that shows no sign of slowing down; the allegations remain unproven, and Henley is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
