Legendary songwriter Diane Warren releases reggae covers album Songs in the Key of Diane

Songwriter Diane Warren has released Songs in the Key of Diane, out now as a reggae compilation via Regime Music Group's Island Empire label, pairing her decades-deep catalog with reggae and Pacific Island artists across 13 tracks. Five of those tracks are previously unreleased Warren compositions, making the project as much a new release as a reinterpretation of old ones.

"I've always loved reggae," Warren said of the project. "My music has always had that rhythmic Caribbean feel, starting with 'Rhythm of the Night.'" She said she was especially excited about the unreleased songs, calling the variety of artists on the record part of what made it fun to put together.

The tracklist reworks some of Warren's best-known songs: Analea Brown covers the Aerosmith ballad "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," Anuhea reimagines "Can't Fight the Moonlight," and Boostive & Through the Roots take on "She's Fire," a Warren song originally recorded with Carlos Santana and G-Eazy. Among the unreleased material, the late artist Fiji's rendition of "You Kind of Beautiful" stands out: it is his final vocal recording, made before his death in July 2025.

The project grew out of a reggae reinterpretation of "Rhythm of the Night" by Grammy-nominated group Common Kings, expanding into a three-plus-year collaboration co-produced by Steven Rosen, Warren, Ivory Daniel and Kevin Zinger. Rosen, whose working relationship with Warren spans 35 years, said the project let contributing artists "showcase their voices on a Diane Warren song," and said the fact that a project like this could come together at all says a lot about her writing.

Songs in the Key of Diane is available now on all major streaming platforms, joining the rest of the year's releases tracked in the release calendar.
