Richard Busch has filed another lawsuit against Suno, this time for a Regional Mexican music label. Gerencia 360 Music, an independent label, publisher, booking agency and management company based in Burbank, California, sued the AI firm on 31 August in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, as case number 3:26-cv-09248.
The complaint names Suno alongside the Israeli data-scraping company Bright Data Ltd and its US subsidiary Bright Data Inc. Gerencia 360 alleges that Suno copied its Spanish-language catalogue in order to quickly capture a significant share of the Spanish-language AI user market, which frames the claim around market strategy rather than incidental scraping.
Busch is the reason the filing carries weight. He won the Blurred Lines case for Marvin Gaye's family while at King & Ballow, and now practises at Adams & Reese, where he is joined on this filing by Mark L. Block, Andrew H. Davis and David Niemierzycki, with Skaggs Faucette LLP acting as local counsel.
The same team has been busy. On 17 August it filed two complaints for Round Hill Music, one against Suno and Bright Data and the other against Anthropic, and Round Hill said at the time that it had no intention of settling either.
The damages sought are specific. Gerencia 360 asks for actual damages and profits or, in the alternative, statutory damages of up to 150,000 dollars per work wilfully infringed. Applied to 444 registered works, that puts Suno's alleged direct infringement at 66.6 million dollars, with an identical sum sought from Bright Data on a contributory basis.
The suit lands in a growing pile. Suno has already been hit with class action suits over a user data breach and lost a German copyright case brought by GEMA, while Round Hill's own case against the company was detailed last month. What is new here is the language market: this is a claim brought specifically on behalf of latin and Spanish-language repertoire rather than an English-language catalogue.
