Action Beat, the ever-shifting noise rock band from Bletchley, will headline a Fortissimo Records night at New River Studios on August 22. The band normally fields at least four guitarists, a bassist and up to four drummers on stage, and this show doubles as a marker of 22 years and more than 700 gigs together.
Joining them on the bill is Circuit Breaker, a London-based industrial duo. Opening the night at 6pm is Vision Suppressant, the audiovisual project of filmmaker Sapphire Goss and Quietus writer John Doran. Their set, titled "A Beach Of Human Teeth," mixes spoken word, ambient electronics and grainy film reels around the story of two Celtic saints arriving on the Cornish coast. Rounding out the bill are Trigger Object, The Duke Of Zuke, Ala Muerte and Dream Skills.
The show runs from 6pm to 11pm, with tickets priced at 15 pounds on the door. It's the kind of packed, genre-blurring lineup Action Beat has built its reputation on over two decades, closer to a night at the tour guide than a standard club date given how many acts are on the bill.
