Actress previews the album Radical Frame with the single Withending

Actress has released "Withending," the third track to be lifted from Radical Frame. Ninja Tune releases the album on September 18, 2026, The Quietus reported.

The rollout began with "Live By You," the lead cut featuring CASISDEAD, and continued last month when the album was announced alongside "Overchord." "Withending" is the third of those previews.

The Quietus described the new track as a dissonant house cut built around piano melodies and warped vocal samples. Clash heard it open as fractal electronics that edge towards modern classical before turning into colder deep house, and noted that a video accompanies the release.

A press release issued when the album was announced said Radical Frame explores the Black avant-garde. Clash called the record a substantive work that pulls the producer in several directions at once.

Actress is Darren Cunningham, a UK producer who has recorded under the name since the late 2000s. The Quietus, which has covered him across most of that run, described his fifth album AZD as the work of a producer sounding refreshed after a period when many thought he had retired the project, and his fourth, Ghettoville, as bleak and bruised.

Cunningham also runs the label Werkdiscs, which released the debut album by the London techno producer Moiré. His music has turned up outside clubs as often as in them, including in planetarium programmes alongside work by Kara-Lis Coverdale.

Radical Frame arrives on September 18 through Ninja Tune, joining Kali Malone's album Burning Song and the Logic1000 and Christine And The Queens single on the release calendar among this autumn's electronic records.
