Aemia have announced two pop-up shows for October, a hometown date at the Pearl in Vancouver on Oct. 4 and a Toronto date at Lee's Palace on Oct. 8. Both are 19-plus and tickets are already on sale.
The Persian-Canadian alt-rock band lined the dates up immediately after signing to Artist House, the label handling the release of their single Nowhere to Hide. Exclaim, which reported the announcement on Aug. 31, published the itinerary along with the video for that single.
Support differs at each stop. FKA Rayne and In Pieces open the Vancouver show, while In Pieces travel east and are joined by Freeze the Fall in Toronto. In Pieces is the only act on both bills.
Two shows on opposite coasts is a small run by design. Pop-up dates let a band that has just put out a single test material in front of an audience without committing to a full national tour, and they cost far less to stage. Everything Aemia announce next will show up on the tour guide.
The band sit at the rock end of the Canadian indie circuit, and the venues they picked match that: the Pearl and Lee's Palace are club rooms rather than theatres. It is the room size where a Vancouver act still building a national audience can sell out rather than rattle around.
