Alex Amor has released "Inside," the final single before her debut album Heavenly Bodies, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 4. The nearly six-minute indie pop track began as a poem that producer Baz Kaye encouraged her to use in full.
Amor said the song is about coming to terms with compounded grief and generational trauma, and about the dissociation that defined much of her twenties, describing it as "a sad-banger lullaby for loved ones gone too soon."
"Pulling away from connection altogether to avoid the pain of needing someone, missing someone, or losing someone," is how Amor described the coping mechanism the song confronts. "Part of love is accepting loss, making space for grief, and finding the courage to feel it all," she said, calling it ultimately a song about the choice to be vulnerable.
Heavenly Bodies is set for release on August 22 via VERO Music, closing out the run of singles that "Inside" completes. It's tracked alongside the rest of the year's releases in the release calendar.
