Heidi Vogel is up for Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2026, where nominees have now been named in nine of the ten categories. The prizes are run by a cross-party group of MPs and peers, and the ceremony is on Tuesday 13 October at World Heart Beat in London.
Vogel is nominated alongside Lucy-Anne Daniels and Marvin Muoneke. In the instrumentalist category, Yazz Ahmed is up against Joe Webb and Deschanel Gordon.
Four records are in the running for Jazz Album of the Year: "The Shieling" by Fergus McCredie, "Sema4" by ARQ, "Alleviate" by Donovan Haffner and "Riversphere Vol. 1" by Iain Ballamy. Haffner appears twice, since the Donovan Haffner Band is also nominated for Jazz Ensemble of the Year, alongside Knats and the Tom Smith Big Band.
The newcomer category names Olivia Cuttill, Sylvie Noble and Ursula Harrison. The venue award has the widest field of the night, with five nominees spread well beyond London: World Heart Beat and Church of Sound in the capital, The Sound Cellar in Poole, Jazz Stroud at The Goods Shed, and The Bear Club in Luton.
Off the bandstand, the media award goes to one of UK Jazz News, One Jazz or Richard Williams of The Blue Moment, and the education award to Jazz at Leeds Conservatoire, marking 60 years, the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy, or New Generation Jazz and Jazz Futures. The Services to Jazz nominees are Nikki Iles, Paul Jolly and Jean Toussaint.
The tenth prize is being held back. The Martin Hummel Award, which commemorates the late CEO of Ubuntu Music, will be announced on the night. The awards are run by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Group and supported by the Musicians' Union, the Royal Society of Musicians and UK Music. Nominations and results across the calendar are tracked on award watch, and more jazz coverage is on the genre hub.
