Always You announce the album Against The World and share its title track

Always You have announced Against The World and released the title track, which is also the album opener. The Los Angeles duo is made up of twins Christoph and Anton Hochheim, the latter of whom drums in Beach Fossils.

The pair describe the song as a manifesto rather than a mood piece: their words for it are "a rallying cry pushing for something better, a staunch refusal of the status quo," written around the idea that love is the only resistance to whatever is manufacturing distance between people.

The record marks a change of gear. Under their former name, Ablebody, the twins worked with lo-fi laptop sounds and synth-pop. Against The World was produced and mixed by Jack Tatum, who records as Wild Nothing, and the sessions involved breaking sound fragments down and rebuilding them, merging heavy guitars and white noise with chopped vocal samples, drum and bass, and house rhythms.

Thematically the album circles longing and what people reach for in its place. "Increasingly divorced from the world around us, the false promises of a new lover, a new leader, or a new saviour become impossible to resist," the duo say, describing a fantasy that leads further underground and leaves rubble behind it.

Neither a release date nor a label has been published alongside the announcement, and no further singles have been named. New indie records with dates attached are collected on the release calendar.
