Angele has announced a new album called Instinct, out October 16 through Angele VL Records and Sony Music, and previewed it with the single Une seule vie and its video. The Belgian singer's guest list runs to Justice, Soulwax, Caroline Polachek and SebastiAn.

The 13-track running order puts Trop with Soulwax at track five, What You Want with Justice at seven, and Love Triangle with Caroline Polachek and SebastiAn at twelve. What You Want had already been released as a standalone collaboration, and Dis-le arrived in June.

Angele produced Une seule vie with her long-time collaborator Tristan Salvati. Her label describes it as written in the first person, a stream of thought in which she sets out her doubts and questions her relationship to truth and illusion, holding past, present and future together.

The video was written and directed by Thomas Mailaender and produced by Partizan. It was filmed in the south of France and shot entirely on 16mm, using stop motion, superimpositions, mirrors and printed images so that everything happens in front of the camera rather than being added afterwards.

Mailaender described the approach as a run of memories and mental images bursting into her reality, with analogue film as the natural language for talking about memory and time slipping away. Footage of the August 12 solar eclipse appears in the clip.

The album itself is framed as a return to instinct, to the part of a person that exists before expectation and performance. Electronic at its core, it uses chrome as a running visual idea: reflective and cold on the surface, treated as a space for transformation.

Angele has been candid about the industry around her. Speaking to NME in 2022 about her song Balance ton quoi, she said coverage of women in music fixates on appearance rather than work. The record is on the release calendar for October 16 and sits between pop and electronic.
