Animal Collective add more Feels shows after ticket bots hit the first pair

Animal Collective announced two gigs last week, one in New York and one in Los Angeles, at which they would play Feels from start to finish. Those sold out quickly, and ticket bots made buying impossible for a lot of people who wanted to go. The band have now added two more shows.

The scarcity is real rather than manufactured. The four members live in different parts of the world these days, and getting all of them in the same place is rare. The first pair of gigs were to be their first live shows in four years, which is why demand behaved the way it did.

Feels turned 20 last year, and the band marked it with a deluxe reissue and a live album called MiniDisc. Playing the record in full is the next step in that, and it is a specific promise: an album show commits a band to songs they might otherwise leave alone.

Bot-driven sellouts have become the default problem with shows of this kind, where a small number of tickets meets a fanbase that has waited years. Adding dates is the only lever a band actually controls, and Stereogum's own assessment was that the extra shows will probably sell out fast as well.
