Anvaya releases new single 'Churaya'

Anvaya has released a new single, "Churaya," closing out a track that spent two years as little more than an unfinished sketch. The song only came together when a flight to Dubai gave producer Kaushal the uninterrupted time to weld it to a separate groove somewhere over the Atlantic.

Once he landed, Kaushal sent the sketch to vocalist Sonia and to Kahani, a co-founder of the Indo Warehouse collective, and the pair finished the record overnight. The version that resulted layers sweeping stabs and tribal percussion over a groove that holds its tension without ever fully dropping.

Sonia sings original Hindi poetry across the track, using her voice as an instrument rather than a conventional topline. The contrast between the two producers does much of the remaining work: Kaushal's jazz training and Sonia's classical background pull the melodic house arrangement toward darker chords and less predictable harmony.

That blending of traditions has been Anvaya's calling card since Coachella 2025, where the act brought Gujarati Garba to the festival's Gobi Stage as part of a set from Indo Warehouse, the first South Asian electronic collective to play the festival.

"Churaya" is now part of the wider new-music slate visible on the release calendar, where Anvaya's blend of South Asian tradition and electronic production continues to stand out.
