The withdrawal is already reshaping her schedule. She has pulled out of the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park With George, where she was to appear alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey, who later dropped out as well, and has reportedly stepped away from the new season of American Horror Story.
She has not said when she plans to reappear. Her eighth album, Petal, arrived on July 31, and she is due on screen alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the Meet the Parents sequel Focker-In-Law in November.
