Arny Margret has released a cover of the late Icelandic artist Prins Polo's 2010 song "Hakk og spaghetti," out now via One Little Independent, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 18, 2026.
The Icelandic singer-songwriter first performed the song at a memorial concert for Prins Polo, the project of musician Svavar Petur Eysteinsson, who died of cancer one year before that tribute show. The song's title translates roughly to "spaghetti Bolognese" and follows the story of a man who invites his girlfriend over for dinner, only to get sick.
"I'd never really heard this song before, but I liked the name and the song really grew on me," Margret said, calling it "funny," "awkward" and "heartfelt and honest."
Margret also described Prins Polo as an artist who "never stopped creating," pointing to his role designing the cover and layout of her first EP, Intertwined, and shooting the cover photo for her song "Dinner Alone." She added that she would sometimes contribute harmonies or other small pieces to his own projects, a two-way creative relationship that predates this tribute by years.
The cover adds to a run of new indie releases this week, tracked on the release calendar.
