Bad Wolves have been dropped as openers on Skillet's upcoming tour after fans of the Christian rock band targeted the groove metal group's singer, Sara "Killboi" Skinner, with online harassment.
According to Skinner, the trouble started once Bad Wolves were announced as openers and Skillet's fanbase began digging into her background. Some began posting transphobic comments about her online. Skinner said Skillet's camp asked her not to say anything publicly about the tour change, but chose to address it herself in a video posted to Instagram.
"who the fuck I am" is not something she has ever hidden, Skinner said in the video, going on to reference the harassment campaign directly. "Skillet announced us on their tour, and their fans had a field day doing very extensive research that their booking agents and management did not do," she said, adding pointedly that only one of the resulting rumors about her turned out to be true.
At the time of the video's posting, Skillet had not publicly responded. Bad Wolves' status on the rest of the tour lineup remains unclear, and no replacement opener has been announced.
