BelicoFest took its musica mexicana festival to Los Angeles and San Jose

BelicoFest brought its musica mexicana festival to California in 2026, with a first Los Angeles edition at BMO Stadium on 12 July and a San Jose date at PayPal Park on 29 August. Tito Double P, Gerardo Ortiz and Clave Especial headlined the LA bill.

The festival exists because of a gap its founder saw. When musica mexicana reached the top of the global streaming charts in 2023, led by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma's Ella Baila Sola, the independent promoter Andres Charvel could not find an American festival built around it. "There wasn't really intellectual property or a festival or a brand that was directly speaking to that market in the United States," he said.

Charvel co-founded the company For the Culture and produced the first BelicoFest in Phoenix in 2024, with Junior H headlining. The following year's edition at the Wild Horse Pass Festival Grounds booked Neton Vega, Xavi and Peso Pluma. He pitches the experience as much as the bill, arguing that general admission ticket holders should still get bar space, seating and short bathroom queues.

The headliners span the genre's range. Tito Double P, a 28-year-old singer from Culiacan, broke out in 2023 when an unmastered release of Dembow Belico went viral on TikTok, and his debut album Incomodo reached number 11 on the Billboard 200. Gerardo Ortiz, born in Pasadena, came up in the early 2010s with the narcocorrido album Ni Hoy Ni Manana but is better known now for ballads. Clave Especial, a trio from Salinas, started at backyard parties and were signed to Street Mob Records by Fuerza Regida's Jesus Ortiz Paz in 2023.

Two more acts sat high on the LA bill. Ohgeesy, the Mexican American trap rapper and founding member of Shoreline Mafia, brought a West Coast turn to a corrido-heavy lineup. Chuyin, an anonymous singer who performs as a character built around a doll a fan threw on stage for Fuerza Regida's frontman, arrived with a debut album, Los Locos Nunca Mueren, and 11.8 million monthly listeners.

Regulo Caro, Snow Tha Product, Linea Personal, Estevie, Ilusion Eterno, Grupo Ajedrez, Anakin Larios, Low Clika and special guest Santa Fe Klan filled out the day.
