Ben Gallaher has re-recorded his song Time as an acoustic track for a new stripped-down release called Ben Gallaher: Taylor Gold, Taste of Country reported August 7 in an exclusive.
The seven-song collection also includes his current single I'll Take You, fan favorite Still a Few Cowboys Left and his viral guitar showcase Stomp, all reworked in acoustic arrangements. Gallaher told Taste of Country the original idea for Time came to him sitting in traffic: "Man, I wish I could move on like time," he recalled thinking, before calling his co-writer Neil Thrasher to start writing it over the phone.
Gallaher said re-arranging Time for acoustic guitar meant pulling out the electric parts and rethinking which elements the song needed emotionally; he called it a return to his roots, since he played acoustic guitar long before picking up an electric one. He said he did not attempt to rework one song from the same album, his cover of Bryan Adams's Cuts Like a Knife, saying he couldn't imagine doing it without an electric guitar.
Ben Gallaher: Taylor Gold is out now through digital music providers; Gallaher, a Stone Country Records artist, made his national television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show in May and has live shows booked through October.
