Between the Buried and Me have released a prog metal cover of the Smashing Pumpkins song "Jellybelly," Metal Injection reported on August 3. The track comes from Sending Hearts To All My Dearies, a 15-artist tribute to the Smashing Pumpkins that also features Palaye Royale covering "Bullet With Butterfly Wings," guitarist Nita Strauss taking on "1979," London band Bones UK tackling "Cherub Rock," and Tame Impala covering "Hummer."
Jellybelly originally appeared on the Smashing Pumpkins' 1995 album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, who covers "Hummer" for the same project, said the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream "was the soundtrack to my high school years," calling "Hummer" the song that takes him back there "in the most potent way."
Between the Buried and Me wrapped a headlining North American tour in June where they debuted a new set with a rotating cast of guest musicians, and they have a slot at Louder Than Life in Kentucky in September before a short run through South America in October, with stops confirmed in Mexico City, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.
Sending Hearts To All My Dearies arrives digitally on August 14 via Sumerian Records, with a vinyl pressing following on October 16, and joins the rest of the month's releases at the release calendar.
