Boomtown Fair books Adam James to DJ after his story spread online

Adam James went to his first festival on his own and came home with a booking. The 23 year old from High Wycombe, who performs as Adzo, has been offered a DJ set at Boomtown Fair in 2027 after an account of his weekend spread across social media and into the press.

The story started at the campsite. Adam's father Andy wrote on Facebook that a group of festivalgoers from Bristol approached his son to borrow a tent mallet, then invited him to camp with them for the rest of the weekend. Adam had spent the previous year saving up for the trip.

Andy told the BBC what his son said once the weekend was over. "He just run up to me crying," he said. "He said, I've found my people, I don't want to ever leave." The family, including Adam's sister, a Boomtown regular herself, had been nervous about him going alone.

Adam was reunited with the Bristol group at a pub in Bristol after the story had already started circulating. Boomtown co-founder Luke Mitchell then asked Andy whether the festival could put a set together for him, and a spokesperson later confirmed the offer.

The response went further than one booking. Adam has fielded gig offers from other DJs and clubs, and an invitation to join a DJing course through the Pete Tong Academy. His family had already started a GoFundMe to send him and the Bristol group back next year, with anything left over going toward their spending money.

Boomtown has spent this cycle rethinking how it works, including a women led research hub built into its 2026 redesign, and its electronic programming keeps drawing headline names, with Chase and Status joining Skrillex for a 2026 set. This is a much smaller booking that came out of a campsite rather than an agency.
