Brandon Flowers says he has thought about quitting music

Brandon Flowers said he has thought about quitting music, in a new interview with the Times reported by NME on August 4. "How much longer do I want to do this, what does it mean, why am I doing it anyway?" the Killers frontman said, adding that he gets sick every time he finishes a tour.

The Killers scrapped a planned album in 2023 when its songs did not feel authentic, Flowers has said, describing a crisis similar to the one he describes now. He also compared himself to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, still performing at 83, wondering aloud what keeps Jagger climbing onstage. Two of the scrapped album's tracks, "Boy" and "Your Side of Town," later surfaced on the compilation "Rebel Diamonds."

The comments arrive as Flowers prepares to release his third solo album, "Thrasher," on August 21. Recorded in Nashville with longtime producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, the country-inspired record looks back on his childhood in Nephi, Utah, and the Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings records his father played in the car.

Flowers will tour "Thrasher" through the UK, Ireland and North America later this year, including a stop at London's Royal Albert Hall in October. He has said the next Killers album is still coming, telling NME the band will not release new music unless it is the best, and that any new record will feature all four members following their 2024 reunion track "Bright Lights."
