Bret Michaels has canceled the rest of his 2026 tour dates, with doctors telling the Poison frontman he needs more time to recover from recent surgeries.
Michaels took the stage Friday for a comeback show at the Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia. Immediately afterward, doctors and paramedics determined he still needed additional rest, according to a statement posted to his Instagram and website Saturday.
The surgeries stem from a complicated obstructing kidney stone Michaels was diagnosed with in July, which required immediate surgery and the placement of a ureteral stent. He was unable to perform until the stent was removed.
His medical team said in the statement that they were pulling him "off the road for the time being," citing "a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels." Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 6, which complicates his recovery.
Michaels shared his own update Sunday, writing that he's working with his doctors and physical therapists to adjust his medication and account for the demands of touring. "I truly felt I would be able to do all these shows in spite of the recent medical domino effect that has occurred," he wrote, adding, "my energy and my soul really want to play music."
