Bruce Dickinson says his next solo album arrives in 2027

Bruce Dickinson says his next solo album will arrive in 2027, and that it will be heavy. Rolling Stone en Espanol carried the singer's comments on August 11, drawn from an interview he gave at San Diego Comic-Con.

Dickinson told the outlet VSXProject that the new record, his eighth solo studio album, will stand apart from The Mandrake Project, his 2024 concept album built around a companion comic book series that pairs each song with its own characters. He said one song still ties back to that story, but otherwise called the new album "heavy as hell."

Dickinson also discussed The Mandrake Project's own timeline. He said the idea began taking shape roughly 17 years ago, when he was writing a solo album and decided to promote it through a comic after noticing how many of his fans also read them. The comic's story runs across three four-part books; the first was published last year, and Dickinson said the second is due within weeks, pointing toward a 2027 close for the series.

The new solo album was recorded between January and February at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Los Angeles, with keyboardist Mistheria, a past collaborator, returning to the sessions.

Dickinson also told Rolling Stone in April that he was in good enough health to be "running around like a lunatic," a pace that helped him finish the album quickly: 16 songs recorded in 21 days, all tracked live, which he called "the total opposite of AI."

No title or exact 2027 release date has been given yet. It is one more record the release calendar will track once specifics land, part of a heavy year of metal news.
