Charlamagne Tha God wants to buy the life rights tied to Dame Dash's Roc-A-Fella era

Charlamagne Tha God says he is considering buying Dame Dash's life story rights, which are being offered as part of Dash's bankruptcy case, HotNewHipHop reported on August 7. Speaking on The Breakfast Club, he said, "I'm especially interested in the Roc-a-Fella movie 'cause of what you just said, it's a lot of footage. That's history."

A court-appointed trustee, Traci K. Stevenson, has set a $37,000 opening bid from Everlasting Films for a package that includes Dash's life-story rights, biography, image and likeness, along with more than 100 hours of archival footage from the unreleased Roc-A-Fella Movie and photographs and memorabilia spanning roughly 1990 through 2025.

Charlamagne said he could think of several people who might want the material, including Cam'ron, before putting himself on the list. "I'm gon' make a serious inquiry about that," he said. "I am interested in purchasing the OG story."

A purchase would not give Charlamagne ownership of Roc-A-Fella Records or its music catalog. Dash's former one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Inc. was already sold at a federal auction in 2024 after years of litigation over his debts, and a 2022 federal judgment established that Roc-A-Fella Inc., rather than Dash individually, owns the rights to Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt.

Dash filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in September 2025, reporting more than $25 million in liabilities against less than $5,000 in assets, a case that has already put several of his properties and intellectual assets up for court-supervised sale, including the life rights themselves, which a separate filing values starting at $37,000.
