Chastity set new album I Built This Prison Myself for November 13

Chastity, the recording project of Whitby, Ontario musician Brandon Williams, will release a new album, I Built This Prison Myself, on November 13 via Dine Alone Records. The announcement arrives alongside the record's lead single, "Misled Youth."

Press materials describe the LP as Williams's "most narrative work yet," pulling from melodic hardcore, shoegaze and punk influences rather than settling into any one of them. The album is built around a specific, local story: a fire set in 1976 by a 16-year-old patient at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital that burned down a barn on the hospital grounds. Williams has said he wanted to imagine the boy behind that fire not as a symbol of destruction but as a young person confronting fear, powerlessness, control and the hope of remaining himself.

That framing gives I Built This Prison Myself a tighter throughline than a typical breakup or self-examination record, using one real event from Williams's hometown as a lens for the songs around it rather than a direct retelling.

The ten-track album runs from opener "Blink and See God" through "Don't Lose the Feeling," "Jesus Christ Superstore," "Misled Youth," "Error of My Ways," "Fighting," "So Alive I Cry," "No One" and "Seeing Red," closing on "Making Peace with the Horrors of Being Me." The album is available to pre-order now ahead of the November release.

I Built This Prison Myself lands as one of several rock records due out this fall, and fans can track its release alongside others on the release calendar.
