Chat Pile have released a new single, "Same Rules," with an accompanying music video, Metal Injection reported on August 11. The track comes from the noise sludge quartet's upcoming album, Who Loves The Sun, due September 4 via The Flenser in the US, and marks the group's third, or technically fourth, release in the six years since they formed.

Metal Injection writer Isabella Ambrosio described the band's catalog as building a picture of a dystopian society that turns out to be our own, and "Same Rules" continues that thread by examining what the band calls an intellectually desolate culture drifting toward complacency. "Everyone needs to read as much as possible," vocalist Ray B. said of the song. "There is so little emphasis put on knowledge right now, it is your most important tool."

Bassist Stin called "Same Rules" the "first real Chat Pile song mostly recorded on 4-track cassette," an unusual approach for the band. He said the track began after Ray B. challenged the group to write a trip-hop song, though Ray B. later decided the result did not actually qualify and sent the band back to try again.

Chat Pile's North American tour opens September 12 in Oklahoma City at a SISU Fundraiser Fest date, then runs through First Avenue in Minneapolis, Riot Fest adds side shows around Chicago on September 19, and continues across the West Coast, Southwest and Northeast with support from acts including Soul Glo, Virga and Shallowater on different legs.

The run closes December 13 at Boston's Roadrunner as part of the Saddest Day Festival. Who Loves The Sun is one of the fall's new metal releases MusicSuey is tracking on the release calendar.
