Seattle duo Chinese American Bear have released "Dance Dance Dance," a previously unheard song written for their album Dim Sum & Then Some, which came out in May but held this track back until now.
The song was written last year and is out now via Moshi Moshi Records. Singer Anne Tong described it as a "groovy, riff-laden, slightly psychedelic, disco bop" built for movement rather than deep listening.
"It's a simple song, about getting down to the groove," Tong said. Bandmate Bryce wrote the bass line and drums first, and once they heard it back, the pair knew they just wanted to bop and move.
That account traces the track back to its rhythm section first, with the lyrics following the feeling the music already carried. Tong said the words settled on movement itself: "The lyrics are about moving, grooving, and listening to the beat."
The release continues a busy stretch for the indie duo following Dim Sum & Then Some, giving fans of the May album one more song from the same sessions before the band moves on to new material.
