Chloé Caillet has released "Change," a house and disco collaboration with Luke Alessi, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 4. The single previews her upcoming EP, Dance Again, due September 25 via Ninja Tune.
Caillet, who was born in Paris and grew up in New York, started out playing in rock bands before picking up DJing, and she says her sound draws on 1990s rave culture. She said the track came together after she and Alessi, whom she calls a "brother separated at birth," met up following four months of touring apart, and it became the first song into which she intentionally poured the weight of her emotions.
"When I hear it back, I hear the emotions in it, but I also hear the sense of wanting to come together," Caillet said of the track. She described her broader approach to dance music around presence and release: "I like to simplify my experiences as just living in the moment," she said, "and honestly when I dance, I do feel like I'm making a positive change."
"Embodying what you're feeling and dancing really makes such a big difference in the way you even experience a night out," she added, saying she wakes up feeling like she has done something positive for her body and mind after a night out dancing with friends. She points to Alessi and fellow electronic artists Josh Ludlow and Dixon among the influences who have shaped her sound.
Caillet now splits her time between Miami and Ibiza while touring ahead of the EP's release.
