Chloe Slater takes on online abuse with the single I've Never Felt So Hated

Chloe Slater has released I've Never Felt So Hated, a single about the toxicity of the online environment and what it feels like to watch that hostility turn toward you. It came out on 28 August with a video directed by Bonnie MacRae.

Slater has built a large online following as a breakout pop artist, and the pushback arrived with it. She has had to handle that in real time rather than at a distance, and the single takes those emotions into the studio rather than leaving them on a phone screen.

"This song is centred around my mental health struggles as a result of internet scrutiny," she said. She went on to describe how easily somebody in 2026 can watch a twenty-second clip or read one comment and form a settled opinion of a person with no context at all, and how short-form media pushes everything toward the poles because that is what gets clicked.

The song itself does not sulk. It is a fast, defiant pop record about re-centring yourself in the middle of the noise, with a vocal that protects her self-esteem rather than putting it up for a vote.

I've Never Felt So Hated arrives ahead of her debut album Riot Youth, which is due on 9 October, and it sets out the ground that record looks likely to cover. The single and the album are both logged on the release calendar, and Slater files under pop and indie.
