Chris Tomlin has announced a Christmas run called the Good News of Great Joy Tour, opening on December 1 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Alabama Theatre.
"What better time than this Christmas to gather at the church to worship and celebrate together!" Tomlin said of the run, framing it around the idea that Christmas began with a song, and saying he hopes the shows remind people that God is near once the lights and gifts are stripped away.
Eleven dates are listed. After Birmingham the tour reaches the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, the North Charleston PAC, the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola, the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, before a December 10 stop at Loews Jersey City.
The second half of the run works through the Midwest, taking in the Fisher Theatre in Detroit, the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis and the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, before finishing at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on December 18.
Presale tickets opened on September 2, with general sale from September 4. The announcement comes as Tomlin prepares a sold-out Worship Under the Stars concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on September 11, followed by the Mesa Amphitheatre in Phoenix on September 12 and The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego on September 13.
His most recent single is "Doesn't He (Deserve It All)", taken from The King Is Still The King, his 18th studio album. The album's first single, "How Good It Is", gave him his biggest radio debut since 2020. The tour is logged on the tour guide, alongside other faith-based runs including Third Day's final anniversary leg.
