Ciara has put out the video for Yes, the Akeem Ali collaboration she released earlier in the summer, and the clip went up on Thursday, August 27. That Grape Juice's Rashad reported it the same day. Maya Table directed.
The song itself arrived as a surprise more than a month ago, dropped for the fan base she calls the CSquad without a campaign in front of it. It marked ten years of marriage to the footballer Russell Wilson, which makes it a personal-occasion release rather than the first move of an album cycle.
Production came from Aton Ben-Horin and Thom Bridges, who build the track around the repeated affirmation in the hook. It sits in the uptempo, flirtatious register Ciara has worked in since the start, rather than the ballad an anniversary song might have suggested.
Akeem Ali's feature is the other half of the record, and putting him in the video rather than leaving him a guest verse gives the pairing something to do on screen.
Nothing in the announcement ties either the song or the video to a larger project. There is no album title, no tracklist and no release window attached, which leaves Yes standing on its own for now, a decade-marker released when it meant something rather than when a schedule called for it.
