Whitmer Thomas, the comedian, actor and singer-songwriter known for blending stand-up with original music, announced a North American tour called Terminal Crew of Dudes on Monday. The tour supports his new HBO comedy special and its companion live album of the same name, and brings his full band along for the ride: longtime friends Clay Tatum on guitar, Budd Diaz on drums and Jeramy Ritchie on bass, plus Thomas's own brother, Johnny McCann, on a second guitar.
The tour opens November 11 at Sid the Cat Auditorium in Los Angeles and runs through mid-December, crossing into Canada twice along the way, with stops at Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre on November 17 and Toronto's Great Hall on December 8. Between those dates it also plays The Independent in San Francisco, Polaris Hall in Portland, Barboza in Seattle and the Empty Bottle in Chicago, before winding down December 18 at Pensacola's Handlebar.
Thomas has built a career on the overlap between comedy and indie music, using his songs as much for emotional weight as for laughs, a combination that carries over into the new special and its live recording. Tickets for the tour go on general sale Wednesday, August 19, at 10 a.m. local time in each market, giving fans on both sides of the border a chance to catch the show as it heads toward the tour guide this fall and winter.
