Darcy Baylis sets a September date for fourth album Emotronica

Darcy Baylis has announced his fourth solo album, Emotronica, due September 4, The Line of Best Fit reported August 17. The Australian producer and songwriter paired the announcement with a new single, "Visa," featuring the Los Angeles dream-pop project Photographic Memory.

The album follows a run of production work for Baylis, including contributions to Ninajirachi's I Love My Computer, one of Best Fit's albums of the year, and collaborations with daine, Debby Friday and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. Writing trips to Los Angeles and London over the past two years led to sessions with Wisp, After and Photographic Memory, whose collaboration with Baylis produced "Visa," the pair's first release together outside their Car Underwater project.

Baylis relocated to Los Angeles in 2025 to work from a new studio with Photographic Memory's Max Epstein, a former member of Militarie Gun. He also executive produced daine's EP i want the light to swallow me whole, released in June via Pack Records, and co-produced Debby Friday's The Starrr of the Queen of Life, out in August via Royal Mountain and Sub Pop.

Emotronica's ten-track list opens with "I Thought I Saw You Signaling" and runs through "Light FM," "Wherever You Go, There You Were," "With The Stereo On," "Me in Miami" featuring Ninajirachi, "Gray Note," "You in Marbella" featuring Forever, "We Talk About Music Mostly" and "Visa" featuring Photographic Memory, before closing on "Revolver." A night-vision video accompanies "Visa."
