Delta Festival removed co-founder Olivier Ledot from his operational management role and barred him from the festival site after French outlet Marsactu published testimony from several women who had volunteered at the Marseille event, accusing him of sexual violence, Mixmag reported. Ledot has denied the allegations, saying he was "outraged" by the response and believes it is aimed at damaging his and the festival's reputation.
The festival went ahead as planned from July 23-26 at Plages du Prado despite the controversy, though several acts, including Pegassi, Acid Arab and Mosimann, withdrew from the roughly 200-act lineup in its wake. According to Le Berry Republicain, no formal complaint has been filed against Ledot, and the festival has launched an independent investigation.
"We offer our unwavering and unconditional support to the victims of sexist and sexual violence and harassment," Delta Festival said in a statement. "Our priority is the safety of everyone attending the festival. A festive event must remain a safe space for all."
The festival said it would support anyone affected in speaking out while protecting their confidentiality, sharing a dedicated contact email for anyone with information.
AFEM, the Association For Electronic Music, sponsors a confidential support service through Health Assured for anyone affected by sexual harassment within the electronic music industry, offering trained counselling for those seeking guidance.
