Descendents' 1987 live album Liveage! and their studio album ALL have both received new 2026 vinyl reissues via ORG Music, reviewed separately by Under the Radar critic Matthew Berlyant. Liveage!, which Berlyant called one of his favorite live albums of all time and, at times, his favorite Descendents record, was culled from performances at Minneapolis's 7th Street Entry in 1987, during the tour for the band's final '80s album, ALL, with singer Milo Aukerman's ad-libs on songs like "Hope" and the band's cover of the Beach Boys' "Wendy" becoming inseparable from how longtime fans sing along.
Berlyant rated the Liveage! reissue 9.5 out of 10, docking half a point because the tracks "Sour Grapes" and "Pervert" are missing, as they also were from the album's original vinyl pressing, and because the reissue carries no liner notes. He praised the new pressing's sound quality as vivid enough to make the album feel like a de facto Descendents greatest hits for old and new fans alike.
The ALL reissue caps ORG Music's ongoing series covering all four studio albums Descendents released in the 1980s, following an earlier reissue of 1986's Enjoy! Berlyant noted that this pressing restores two tracks, "Jealous of the World" and the instrumental "Uranus," that had previously only appeared on the album's CD and cassette editions, making it the first vinyl release to include them; a second edition, dubbed "Punk Note," carries alternate artwork styled after old Blue Note jazz records.
Berlyant rated ALL 8.5 out of 10, calling it one of the band's most experimental records. It was the first album to feature guitarist Stephen Egerton and bassist Karl Alvarez, both of whom joined in September 1986 and remain in the band today, and Berlyant traced a line from prog-leaning tracks like "Impressions" and closer "Schizophrenia," which he connected to drummer Bill Stevenson's earlier time in Black Flag, through to later ALL-the-band albums like Allroy Saves and Percolator. The record also holds straightforward pop-punk songs including "Coolidge," "Clean Sheets," "Cameage" and "Pep Talk," alongside the goofier "All-O-Gistics" and "Van."
Both reissues are out now through ORG Music and listed on the release calendar, giving longtime fans and newer listeners a chance to hear the band's late-1980s run on vinyl in improved sound, more than three decades after their original pressings.
