Dolly Parton's estate has revived a festival she planned herself. DOLLYFEST: The Celebration Of A Lifetime will run across two consecutive weekends in 2027, one in Nashville and one in London, with ticket details and a line up to be announced later.
The event was originally set for January 2026 in Nashville, built as a multi artist bill with Parton performing and hosting on her 80th birthday. Her manager Danny Nozell, founder and chief executive of CTK Enterprises, said the venue had been booked and the announcement was ready to go before her health intervened in August 2025, when she stepped back and postponed six shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
"What Dolly started, we will ensure is brought to life," Nozell said. He was also explicit about why the estate chose a festival rather than a service, saying a traditional memorial was not something Parton wanted, and that the plan gives people time to grieve and time to plan.
Parton died on August 25 at 80, after a short illness, and was laid to rest in a private funeral at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville on August 30. Tributes have come from Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Paul McCartney, and artists including Kacey Musgraves, Jack White and Ella Langley have been covering her songs at their own shows.
A second and more permanent tribute is also moving. On August 28, Governor Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announced their intent to name the airport in her honour, a proposal due before the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority on September 17. Her team has said it appreciates the gesture and is open to continuing the conversation.
Turning a birthday party into a memorial festival is an awkward manoeuvre, and the estate seems aware of it. The phrasing throughout has been about carrying out a plan rather than inventing one, which is a narrower and more defensible claim than most posthumous events can make.
Parton's final months were covered closely, from missing a Dollywood appearance over health problems to her death at 80. The 2027 dates will appear on the festival tracker once they are set, alongside the rest of the country calendar.
