Essy Sparrow has released Weak At The Knees, the latest single from her upcoming EP, Gossip From A Coastal Town, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 12. The EP arrives October 2, and the new song follows previous single Weddings and Funerals.
Produced by CJ Pandit, the track serves as an ode to Sparrow's ten-year relationship with her husband, timed to their wedding anniversary. "I wanted it to sound like a traditional coastal wedding by the sea," Sparrow said of the song, describing a village watching a couple renew their vows on a hillside.
The song was recorded in Cornwall, and live recordings of Sparrow's seaside town run underneath the track, with seagulls and waves from her local beach audible in the mix, giving the coastal folk-pop song the feel of riding a boat into the summer sun. The EP joins a busy fall on the release calendar, and its understated songwriting fits well within our indie coverage.
