The 2027 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, at Arena Burgas, a 15,000-capacity venue that opened in 2023, NME reported on August 13. The European Broadcasting Union and Bulgarian National Television confirmed the host city after a competitive process involving four Bulgarian cities, following visits to proposed venues and meetings with municipal teams.
Bulgaria earned hosting rights after Dara won this year's contest for the country with the track "Bangaranga," the nation's first-ever Eurovision victory; Israel finished second, as it also did in 2025. Eurovision Song Contest director Martin Green called Burgas "a vibrant, welcoming city on the Black Sea with a strong musical and cultural identity," while BNT director general Milena Milotinova called the selection process "intense and highly competitive." Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov called hosting "an exceptional honour," adding, "this is not about one city hosting Eurovision. This is Bulgaria hosting Eurovision."
Recent Eurovision host cities have seen sizable economic boosts, with Liverpool gaining an estimated 66 million euros in 2023, Malmo 40 million euros in 2024 and Basel 58 million euros in 2025, a figure NME says fed into a reported 272 million euro boost for Switzerland nationally. Vienna, hosting this year's 2026 contest, has already drawn 88,000 additional visitors, sold 160,000 hotel rooms and generated an estimated 57 million euro boost.
The announcement follows news that Canada will enter the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2027, and comes after a contest year already marked by controversy, with Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Iceland and Spain boycotting the 2026 edition over Israel's inclusion.
