Everything Is Recorded, Richard Russell's collaborative project, will release a new EP, Cut Off Your Nose, on August 14 via XL Recordings, led by its title track featuring bassist and vocalist Jah Wobble.
"Working with Richard has been like a breath of fresh air for me," Wobble said of the track. "His sessions are always fun, imaginative and idiosyncratic. The way he works is reminiscent of the great Holger Czukay," Wobble said, adding, "He's unpredictable. That's a pretty rare quality in itself."
Russell said Wobble's bass playing "has been a foundation of so much music I love," calling him "an incredible collaborator, a musical hero who's a joy to work with." Russell said the two discussed having Wobble sing lead as well as play bass on the track, "and he didn't hesitate. Same conviction, same weight."
The EP's other tracks pair Russell with more guests: "One With The Sky" features Roses Gabor, "Ode To Her" brings in actor and musician Samantha Morton alongside Rian Brazil, and closer "Beyond The Brilliant Haze" features rapper .idk. and Peter Gabriel.
