Fridayy has released his new album, Tension, out now via Def Jam Recordings. The Philadelphia-born R&B singer and songwriter kept a fast pace, with sessions for the 12-track record starting not long after his acclaimed last album, Some Days I'm Good, Some Days I'm Not, according to Clash.
Tension carries Fridayy's velvet vocals across matters of the heart, one of the touchstones of his catalog, Clash reports. The tracklist runs Tension, Can You Say, Dance, Cryin, Haiku, Text, Time Will Tell, Time & Place, Too Late, Skip The Club and Moment, closing on Death Do Us Part.
Death Do Us Part features R&B singer Mariah The Scientist, the only guest across the album's 12 songs. That track first surfaced on Fridayy's surprise EP Everybody Got Somebody, released in December 2025, before being folded into the new album as its closer.
HotNewHipHop notes the album leans almost entirely on Fridayy's own voice rather than a run of collaborators, following the recent single "Haiku" as its most direct lead-in. The outlet calls it another showcase of the depth and vocal range that has become a mainstay of his music.
Tension is Fridayy's second full-length in under a year, arriving on the heels of a run that also included the Everybody Got Somebody EP. Tension is out now via Def Jam, tracked on the release calendar as part of this week's new R&B and soul releases.
