Glenn Lewis puts a video to Waiting, the latest cut from his album Overture

Glenn Lewis has released a video for Waiting, one of the songs on Overture, the album he put out in June. It is not the first clip from the record, and it arrives with the album still in heavy rotation among R&B and soul listeners three months on.

Anna Keenan, who has worked with Lewis repeatedly, directs. The setting is a single white living room filled with monochrome furnishings, and Lewis is dressed in off-white to match it, which somehow makes him the only thing in the frame with any edge to it.

The performance carries the song's argument. He is composed for the first half, doing the opposite of what the lyric describes, and the calm gives way to visible anxiety as it goes on. A clock on the wall does the rest of the work.

"Oh, won't you say something, anything," he pleads on the chorus, and nothing comes back. SoulBounce, which premiered the video, reads the ending as him waiting in vain.

Overture landed in June after years without a new Lewis album, and it has held attention through the summer rather than fading after release week. The outlet calls him a strong bet for comeback of the year, which is the kind of line that gets written about a singer whose absence lasted long enough to be a story in itself.

No further videos have been announced, and the album is out across streaming services. It sits on the release calendar alongside the rest of the year's releases.
