New York outfit Grumpy have announced their debut album, Unfindable Ring, due October 23 via Bayonet Records, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 10.
Alongside the announcement, the band shared a new single, "OBL," marking the first time singer-songwriter Heaven Schmitt has expanded Grumpy from a solo project into a full band.
"OBL" explores the paradox of trans joy in a hostile world. Schmitt said touring as a band of trans people brings worry about safety and reception, but "what we usually find is love," adding: "We protect each other and laugh and live our normal lives."
Schmitt is joined in the band by Anya Good, Ellie Long (also known for her project Kid Lake), Austin Arnold, Diego Clare (who records as D.A. Crimson) and Lane Rodgers, with every member contributing distinct parts as well as engineering, mixing, artwork, production and video direction, The Line of Best Fit reported.
Unfindable Ring follows a run of EPs and collaborations Grumpy released before this, the site reported. It's the latest addition to the release calendar.
