Hana Stretton has released "From," the final single before her album tiarn, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 4. The ambient-folk producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist says she made the song as a storm rolled over her house, recording it with her dog Roo asleep beside her and using a hairbrush in place of a guitar.
Stretton said the song is about weathering personal storms without hardening, and about continuing to reach for warmth in a world she calls "stubbornly sharp."
Pitchfork published Sam Goldner's review of tiarn on August 5, filing it under folk and country and calling it Stretton's most clearly defined set of songs yet, still carrying the hazy, impressionistic quality of her earlier work. tiarn is out August 7, joining the rest of the week's releases at the release calendar.
