HMLTD set their third album FANGS for October 23 with two new members

HMLTD have wiped the slate and started again. The band's third album, FANGS, arrives October 23 through Lucky Number, and it comes with a changed lineup: musicians Theo Spark and Andrei Martynchyk have joined original members Henry Spychalski and Duc Peterman.

The lead single, "I Used To Ride In Limousines," is out now with a video directed by Spychalski.

Musically it is a sharp turn from 2023's rock opera The Worm. Where that record leaned on orchestral arrangements, this one leans on Ableton, rave synths, EBM, goth and black metal, and the band have coined their own label for the result rather than accept an existing one.

It was made away from home. The group decamped to a ruined chateau in the Loire Valley to record, and the finished album pulls from Bauhaus and Suicide through to Crystal Castles and Justice, building out a world of vampires, decay and digital horror.

Lyrically the subject is achievement and the cost of chasing it. "This is a song about failure and success. It's about making peace with failure," the band say of the single, describing it as a rejection of the idea that a life should be measured by productivity, and as an attempt to redefine self-worth on their own terms.

Live dates are already set on both sides of the release. HMLTD play the Cardiff showcase SWN Festival this autumn, and a short UK run includes a London headline show at Village Underground on March 4, 2027. More rock release dates sit on the release calendar.
