Hollow Hand, the project of Brighton-based musician Max Kinghorn-Mills, has released a new single, Heavy Metal T-Shirt, the third preview of his upcoming album Wish Road South, The Line of Best Fit reported on August 5. It follows lead single Here Are The Tulips.
"A true story! I bought an unidentified t-shirt at a thrift shop and I wrote a song about it," Kinghorn-Mills said of the track, adding that it is also about an attempted conversation with someone special to him.
"To record this song we found a night at the studio complex when no-one else would be around," Kinghorn-Mills said. "We set up in the corridor so we'd get lots of room sound on the microphones. It was important to play it uninhibited."
He described the session's mood as a dreary evening in Brighton with a leaking roof and rats in the basement, recording what he called a rowdy song with two of his best friends, and said capturing that feeling was all that mattered in the moment.
Wish Road South is a collection of songs written fresh off a European tour with MJ Lenderman, and while playing as a member of Caitlin Rose's country band. It is due out September 4 via Loose Music, Soundly and Thirty Tigers, tracked on the release calendar.
