Kentucky singer-songwriter Ian Noe announces double concept album Canyon Falls

Kentucky country singer-songwriter Ian Noe announced a new double concept album, "Canyon Falls Trailer Band," a 16-song record due Sept. 25, Saving Country Music reported. It was produced by Andrija Tokic at the Bomb Shelter in Nashville, with contributions from Russ Pahl on guitar, Charlie McCoy on harmonica and Billy Contreras on fiddle.

The announcement follows a rough stretch for Noe, who had built real momentum after 2022's "River Fools & Mountain Saints" before a broken wrist and a run of canceled shows sent him into an indefinite hiatus that left fans unsure whether he would return to music at all. He re-emerged this year, playing shows again and releasing a Blaze Foley tribute single, "Jukebox Blues," in March.

The new album is built around a fictional band, the Canyon Falls Trailer Band, playing a one-off showcase in pursuit of industry approval, blending country and folk rock into what becomes, in the album's own mythology, the stuff of legend. "It feels like the parent or maybe the grandparent of the first two records," Noe said of the project. "Once it was finished, I realized it brought together everything I'd been writing about over the last seven or eight years."

Ahead of the album's release, Noe shared the song "The Heidelberg Fisherman's Ball." "This is simply the story of a fisherman's gathering down by the riverside where the various women of Heidelberg present themselves," he said of the track, comparing the scene to a kind of date auction.

Noe first drew notice with 2019's "Between the Country," and Saving Country Music has followed his career closely since, calling him one of the more distinctive voices in the genre even as his profile has remained comparatively underground. "Canyon Falls Trailer Band" is now available for pre-save and pre-order ahead of its September release.
