Ice Nine Kills will soundtrack Universal's Terror Tram attraction at Halloween Horror Nights this year, which stars Art the Clown, the character played by David Howard Thornton in the Terrifier films. "We are forever honored that Terrifier writer/director Damien Leone and his team invited us to play in their sandbox of bloodshed," frontman Spencer Charnas said.
Charnas pointed to the band's deeper ties to the franchise, noting that Leone and members of his cast have appeared at the band's own horror convention, Silver Scream Con, in past years, and called Halloween Horror Nights "among our favorite destinations each season."
The band has worked with the Terrifier franchise before, most notably on "A Work of Art," a song and video built entirely around Art the Clown. Earlier this year Ice Nine Kills also released "Twisting the Knife," a song for the film Scream 7 featuring actress Mckenna Grace.
Halloween Horror Nights is leaning further into metal this year beyond the Ice Nine Kills tie-in: the event also announced an "Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness" house honoring albums including Blizzard of Ozz, Bark at the Moon and No More Tears. Ozzy's wife Sharon and son Jack said in a joint statement that "he loved anything that gave fans a new way to experience his music."
The tie-in continues a busy year for the band's crossover work: members of Ice Nine Kills are also part of the team scoring the upcoming game Crimson Moon, alongside musicians from HEALTH and Periphery.
